Choose a practitioner

If it’s light, it’s right.

In your journey of healthy living and transformation it is important that you chose the right therapist/practitioner/consultant to help you reach your outcomes. In the world we live in there are so many levels of education and so many types of practitioners, that even choosing one to start off with may be daunting. I hope that this article helps you make an informed choice on a practitioner to get you on your journey to better health.

Look at their credentials, the chances are the longer and more the practitioner has studied the better they will be. Experience is so important in health care. The more years the practitioner has studied, the more clients they have seen, the more experienced they will be and the higher the probability that they will be able to help you. This shouldn’t be the only factor, there are practitioners in this world who have had no formal education but are naturally gifted healers. If you are lucky enough to find one of them and you connect with them it may be a path you may wish to follow.

Look at their testimonials, reviews, feedback from clients and see what it is like. The better it is, the more likely they are of being to help you. Look at this critically, it should not be your only decision criteria.

Go on personal recommendation. If someone who you know, and trusts has used them then it may be worth connecting with them. But always remember what works for some may not work for others so be mindful about this.

Speak to them. Nothing beats connection. What is your connection like with them? What are they like to speak to? Do they fill you with confidence? Do they make you feel relaxed about your situation? Do they have passion in what they do? I feel this is the most important part of your decision making. When you feel relaxed and confident around your healthcare professional, subconsciously your healing has already begun. Your body will respond well to the treatment or suggestions they make.

Follow your gut in this decision making. Trust your gut in this process as well. I follow a simple mantra in life about my decision making: “If it’s light, it’s right.” Whatever I do it needs to feel light. If it does it is the right decision. This mantra has served me well for many years.

I believe the sole focus of a healthcare practitioner should be to heal/help their client. Each practitioner has a duty of care to the patient and their health and wellbeing should be at the forefront at every stage in their therapeutic journey. A practitioner should also know their limitations and refer to other practitioners when they come across situations or conditions in which they are not confident about or they are not seeing results within a reasonable period of time.

Honesty, clarity, and humility are three characteristics which make a good practitioner.
