What Is Swasthaveda?

The word Swasthaveda is a combination of two words,
‘Swastha’ meaning health and ‘Veda’ meaning knowledge.

About Swasthveda SQUARE

What is health?

Health in Ayurveda is defined as:

“Sama dosha, samagnis ca sama dhatu mala kriya,
prasannatmendriya manah swastha ityabhidhiyate’’
(Sushruta Samhita, Su 15:48)
“That person who has balanced doshas, balanced agni, properly functioning dhatus, proper elimination of malas;
Well-functioning body processes, and whose mind, soul and senses are full of bliss, is called a healthy person.”
(agni – digestive fires, dhatus – bodily tissues, malas – bodily wastes)

The Mind, Body and Emotional Connection

When the word healthy is mentioned in the current world, most people will relate the word only to their body.  “I am healthy because I have a healthy gut, a healthy heart, healthy skin etc.’’  They are correct in saying this but are missing arguably the most important parts of health – the mind and emotions.

Mental health is being talked about more and more in society. Slowly modern medicine is realising how important the mind and the mind state is in a person’s overall health. Understanding one’s mental state, respecting it and paying consideration to it when planning a protocol for them, will help speed up their recovery and return to their optimal state. This is exactly what we do here at Swasthaveda. We pay attention to your state of mind and try to improve it and thereby working holistically to get you to a better state of health.

Ayurveda has always recognised that the mind and emotions are inherently part of the make-up of a human. If you want to be totally and completely healthy, the body, mind and emotions need to be balanced and healthy. On a global level, humanity can only grow when the healing is done on a holistic level.

Ayurveda for current times

Ancient humans had a deep knowledge on how to live in sync with the rhythms of the universe and harness the immense powers of mother nature to benefit themselves, their families and humanity.

At Swasthaveda we believe in preserving these traditions and secrets of the Ancient people, maintaining their authenticity and integrity yet adapting them to make Ayurveda a powerful, sustainable, health promoting modality in today’s time – in other words modernising Ayurveda without westernising it.
