What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient, timeless health care system.

The word Ayurveda literally means the Knowledge of Life. In the name itself you can see its vastness.

Life is a combination of mind, body, and spirit. Ayurveda discusses each of these parts in depth.

The beauty of Ayurveda is that it is more than just a system of treating illnesses.  It offers endless wisdom designed to help YOU stay healthy while YOU realise your life potential.  There is equal emphasis on prevention as well as curing.

Ayurveda explains that, just like nature, human beings are made up of the Panchamahabhuta (five elements) namely Aakash, Vayu, Agni, Jal and Prithvi (Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth).  In simple terms - We are inherently part of nature and not separate from it.  It teaches us to live in sync with the rhythms of nature.  By doing this we can dance with the joy of great health.

Combinations of these elements form the three fundamental energies, which govern the structure and function of the body

These are famously known as the three doshas.

Vata, Pitta & Kapha.

VATA

Energy of Motion.

The nervous system and any movement in the body is governed by Vata

PITTA

Energy of Transformation.

Any change or chemical reaction in the body is governed by Pitta.

KAPHA

Energy of Growth and Stability.

Immunity and any structure in the human body is governed by Kapha.

According to Ayurveda, you are a unique expression of universal consciousness. Just as a flame is small part of a whole fire, YOU are a part of something much bigger. You as an individual have your own unique combination and balance of these three doshas and this gives you your physical and mental attributes. This combination is known as your Prakruti (constitution).

Being balanced in your unique Prakruti means being healthy.

Be truly and unapologetically you!

Be truly and unapologetically you!

You are constantly exposed to internal and external environmental changes such as diet, lifestyle, emotions, relationships, and climatic changes. These fluctuations are constantly affecting your body and causing imbalances in the doshas and thus small deviations away from the Prakruti.

Your body has its own intelligence to return itself back to its balanced state. This is homeostasis. Ayurvedic protocols help the body with this process. In effect Ayurveda is a system which reminds the body and mind of their natural intelligence and supports them to do their job.

Any imbalance away from your Prakruti is termed Vikruti.  The aim of Ayurveda is to help you stay closer to your Prakruti state and away from the Vikruti state.  Be your true self!

Ayurveda is unique because the treatment is specific to YOU and works in harmony with nature in re-establishing balance in your body.

The philosophy of Ayurveda believes YOU should be able to live life to the full and be able to maintain your health – whatever life throws at YOU!

The path of Ayurveda is a beautiful journey of self-discovery, full of learning lessons about how to stay healthy mentally, physically, and spiritually.  It will lead to YOU living your BEST LIFE in the way you were born to

Enjoy your journey and wishing you the best of health always.
